JUTC currently has exclusive rights to provide public transit service to the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region (KMTR) which comprises Kingston, St. Andrew, and Portmore and Spanish Town in St. Catherine.
The JUTC collaborates with private operators to provide supplemental services on certain routes within the KMTR where the JUTC, by virtue of certain operational challenges, cannot safely or efficiently operate.
Currently there are some 400 private vehicle owners that benefit from this partnership and provide public transportation services on select routes.

Follow the steps below to submit your sub-franchise application. Visit the JUTC Portmore Depot with all required documents.
Purchase an application package at the JUTC Greater Portmore Office. Complete and submit the application form with your vehicle documents to the JUTC Service Planning Department (Portmore Depot).

Valid Vehicle Documents: This includes Registration certificate, fitness certificate and insurance certificate or cover note.

Proof Of Address: The following are accepted: utility bill received within last 3 months; post marked envelope dated within last 3 months; property tax receipt dated within last 12 months; completed Transport Authority Proof of Address Form signed by JP.
Police Record: In the case of a company, police record for all directors is required
Structural Safety Report from ITA: Cars over 15 years and buses over 20 years old; required every two (2) years

Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC): This applies to companies only.
Certificate Of Incorporation Of Company And Articles Of incorporation: This applies to companies only.
Renewing operators must visit the JUTC Service Planning Department at Portmore Depot with all updated documents before the expiry of their current franchise period.
